Have you confessed Christ?

Matthew 16: 13-20.   Also see: (Mark 8:27-30; Luke 9:18-20; John 6:66-71)

“13.  When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14.  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15.  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16.  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18.  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 20. Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.”

Who do you say that I am?

In light of all that’s going on today, there remains a glimmer of hope in the lives of those who believe that Jesus is still in control.  When Jesus asks a question, He knows the answer already.  He asked His followers a question “who do men say that I am?”  Have you ever asked someone a question to which you already knew the answer?  What was your reason for asking?  Was their response what you expected?  What if you asked the question, “who do people say that I am, or what are people saying about me, or what is other people’s perception of me?”  Do you know yourself well enough to anticipate or expect an answer that you are already aware of?  One’s perception of you will dictate who they believe you are, as well as how they will handle you.  But, am I another person’s perception of me or am I someone else?  Most will say that I am someone else, but Jesus agreed with Simon Peter’s answer.

Then Jesus asked them another question, “Who do you say that I am?”  Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Peter correctly answered the question having no foreknowledge of who Jesus truly was because He had not died on the cross and rose from the grave.  Jesus answered, “You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because no person taught you that.  My Father in heaven showed you who I am.  Jesus proceeded to refer to him as “Peter”, it was on this truth that Peter spoke that Jesus referred to as a “rock” which the church will be built upon (The Christ, The Son of the Living God).  This is the foundation of church.

Who do you say that He is?

This is a critical question that one must ask him/her self individually.  Your answer should never be based on what He will do for you, nor what He will give you, but based solely on who you believe He is.  Salvation, joy, peace, happiness, prosperity, and all that we could ever humanly desire will rest on how you answer this question.  Who do you say He is?

Has God the Father revealed to you who Jesus is, or has flesh and blood (a human being)?  As you seek the answer to this question for yourself, wait for that internal, eternal spiritual confirmation from God.  The bible says in Matthew 7: 7 “Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”  You will then be able to answer this question with an absolute, sure, unwavering, unquestionable, firm, indisputable, assured, undeniable, incontestable, truth that Jesus is “The Christ, The Son of the Living God”.  When this truth is made clear from within, God says “I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven.

This foundational truth will set you free when you believe and receive it.  The gates of hell cannot prevail against you, that means, our adversary, Satan, nor will the power of death be able to defeat you.   God said and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; the things you don’t allow on earth will be the things that God does not allow, and the things you allow on earth will be the things that God allows.

The inner voice of God is the knowing that we have, even when we know nothing.  It is the voice of God that speaks to the mountains in your life and commands them to be removed.  Is is the internal, eternal spiritual, absolute, sure, unwavering, unquestionable, firm, indisputable, assured, undeniable, incontestable, voice from within Who is asking you this question today,

Who do you say that I am?
